Sourcing and review policy
This site exists to be checkable. The rules below are not aspirational — each one is a constraint the software enforces before a page can go live, and they are the reason a jurisdiction sometimes shows an em dash instead of a number.
What may be published
A figure appears on this site only when it has been transcribed from the primary source that establishes it — a statute, a regulation, or an official agency publication. Nothing is written from memory, from a model, or from another reference site. Secondary sources are recorded as such and are treated as provisional until the official text is obtained.
How a value is cited
Every value carries two things: a Source record naming the document, publisher and retrieval date, and a pinpoint locator — the subsection, paragraph or table that contains the figure. A citation to a whole statute is not a citation. The locator is what makes a value checkable by a reader in under a minute.
What is withheld
Where no primary source has been confirmed, the value is withheld and rendered as an em dash (—). It is never shown as zero, as “N/A”, or as a neighbouring jurisdiction’s figure. A jurisdiction with no sourced values is not published at all: it returns a 404 rather than an empty page. An unsourced page is worth less than no page.
Review and reverification
A page cannot be published without a named reviewer attached to it — this is enforced in software, not by convention. Regulatory text changes, so a verification date is recorded against each source and pages are re-checked against the current text rather than assumed to remain accurate.
Corrections
Errors are corrected in place and the correction is recorded. If you can point to the governing text, that is enough — a citation beats an assertion, including ours. Corrections that change a published figure are treated as urgent.

This is a reference, not counsel. Enforcement practice, permits, grandfathered exceptions and route-specific restrictions can all change what applies to a particular vehicle on a particular road. Always confirm against the current text of the governing statute before relying on a figure.
